Preview

Preview invites international galleries to showcase the works of new artists on their roster across different locations. This exhibition format serves as a tool through which the invited galleries have the opportunity to collaborate, and share innovative perspectives and new approaches. The format also aims to give an alternative narrative to the consolidated gallery exhibition dynamics, both in terms of time and space.

Preview is a series of exhibitions that focus on artists at an early stage of their career, with the aim to provide visibility, support their artistic path, and develop new forms of cultural exchange on an international scale.

Preview has been presented six times in Milan, five times in London, and two times digitally over the past three years.

The Format

The curatorial focus is to “preview” the works of artists who recently joined or are about to join a gallery’s roster. Artists who the gallery wants to investigate the market potential and future growth.

We typically invite one gallery to be the first “headliner” that invites other galleries. The format is very flexible; together with the invited gallery, we decide how to create the “gallery combo” and what curatorial theme will define the exhibition.

There is also the possibility for the invited gallery to exhibit in the space alone, under the title SUPER Preview.

A Selling Exhibition

Preview is a commercial exhibition and the format has become one of the unmissable appointments in the art industry in Milan and London: collectors, curators, journalists, and other gallerists are keen to discover “en primeur” new and exciting artists from all over the world.

The opening night is the key to the entire format as it is intended to be a very enjoyable social evening of discussion accompanied by drinks and a proper buffet. For this reason, we ask participating galleries to participate, be present at the opening, and contribute to this special evening.

Preview is provides young artists with a new unconventional platform in London and Milan.

How does it work?

Locations
Preview is a group exhibition that takes place in one of the two exhibition venues of BeAdvisors Art Department.

Galleries
Selected galleries are engaged to cooperate with other international galleries so as to offer their contribution to a new collaborative model.

Collectors
Collectors are the protagonists of Preview as they are specifically addressed in the format. They have the opportunity to participate in the opening night where gallerists, artists, and their peers attend to share their thoughts, their way of collecting, and their taste.

Opening night
The opening night of Preview is the core of the format. It is by exclusive invitation only and drinks and canapes are served from 6 pm to 10 pm to create a convivial environment igniting conversation and discussion.

Model

Preview operates with a simple model:

The gallery pays a participation fee based on the location and specifications of the edition for participating to cover the organisation, production and communication.

The gallery is responsible for the shipping, installation and nail-to-nail insurance of the works. This depends on the location, nature of the works exhibited etc.

The proceeds of all sales go to the galleries net of BeAdvisors’ commission fee (based on case by case agreements).

Benefits

The benefits that this new format provides to its participating galleries are several and are primarily focused on the experience. Preview offers galleries the opportunity to access new collector base, carefully selected by BeAdvisors’ team. This increased exposure has the potential of resulting in higher sales andsecuring a wider network of potential future buyers.

An additional benefit, thanks to the itinerant nature of the format, is to deepen the connection between the local participating galleries and their active territories as well as providing invited international galleries access to a previously undiscovered environment of art collectors, thus creating a stronger connection in circumstances where travels are restricted and the propensity to do so by international collectors is severely hindered.

In addition, stronger connections will also be formed between the participating galleries, both the local ones and the hand-picked international ones, widening and strengthening their cooperation and recognition.

Finally, from a cost perspective, Preview offers its partner galleries a more cost-efficient way to present the work of its artists when compared to the fee structure of more global fairs while still retaining and enhancing their benefits: visibility and exposure to a collective of potential new clients.
